Bostik Marine Silicone Sealant 90ml

Bostik Marine Silicone Sealant 90ml is a clear, one part acetoxy curing silicone sealant that is specifically designed for use in building fish tanks and aquariums. It is also suitable for general purpose sealing, waterproofing, and weatherproofing around the house during DIY projects. The sealant is highly resistant to UV, weathering, aging, and water, and has excellent chemical resistance. It is not affected by alcohols, diluted acids, alkalis, soap, and household detergents. The sealant can remain flexible over a wide temperature range from -40°C to 100°C and performs as an excellent adhesive on non-porous surfaces where an elastic gap-filling bond is required.

However, it is important to note that the sealant is not suitable for use on alkaline surfaces such as concrete, fibrous cement, asbestos, plaster, and marble. It may cause corrosion on some metals such as mild steel, lead, copper, tin, galvanized iron, brass, or zinc. The sealant may become discolored when it comes into contact with some organic elastomers that tend to bleed oil or solvents into the silicone, e.g. EPDM, APTK, Neoprene, and Bituminous surfaces. It should not be used on the back of mirrors, as it will de-silver the mirror backing and affect the front appearance of the mirror. The sealant is not suitable for contact with natural stone such as marble, granite, quartzite as it may discolor the surfaces. It will not adhere to some plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and Teflon. Do not apply sealant when relative humidity is below 10% as the cure rate may be affected.

The Bostik Marine Silicone Sealant is not suitable where mold-resistance is required, e.g. sealing of showers, basins, and baths. It does not contain a fungicide which may be harmful to aquarium fish. The sealant is not paintable.
